9/25/2023 0 Comments Gskyer 130eqThe Solomark Polaris 130mm EQ is a 130mm (5.1”) f/5 Newtonian reflector with a focal length of 650mm. Don’t worry, we’ve adequately examined and tested this telescope for you. If you must have a 130mm equatorial reflector, we’d recommend the Gskyer 130mm EQ or Orion SpaceProbe 130ST instead – or even better, a tabletop Dobsonian like the Sky-Watcher Heritage 130P or the larger Heritage 150P.Īs with many less-than-good beginner telescopes, reviews on Amazon of the Solomark Polaris 130mm EQ are biased, as many people are just happy to get a semi-acceptable view of the Moon or Jupiter at low magnifications with this telescope and give it a 5-star rating – and there are of course fake reviews and shills, too. The Polaris 130mm EQ is also easily more expensive than a good 114mm or 130mm tabletop Dobsonian telescope which will provide much better images. The optics may be acceptable and the telescope certainly works okay, but its overall design and included accessories are less than acceptable, let alone at the price it commands, which rivals that of a 6” Dobsonian. This video is the Gskyer telescope manual or guide they should have included with the telescope and will help you move in the right direction.ĭownload Gskyer’s 130EQ Quickstart Guide/Manual that came with the telescope. The Solomark Polaris 130mm EQ at first glance doesn’t seem that bad, but it’s in many ways flawed in the same manner as the Celestron AstroMaster 130EQ. This is particularly true for beginners in astronomy. Unlike some of their lower-end refractors, this telescope really needs such an instruction manual. Getting the telescope put together is all fine and dandy, but you may have noticed that there was no Gskyer telescope manual or guide for how to use the telescope once you get it put together. That’s OK, I put it all in this short video for you. Setup is extremely important for these mounts so I was very surprised that there was no Gskyer telescope manual that went into the details. Since this telescope uses an Equatorial Mount, EQ for short, it is substantially more complex to set up and more capable than cheaper telescopes. If you have been looking for an improved version of the Gskyer telescope manual, this may be it. If you are having trouble getting your telescope assembled, or are not sure you did it correctly, then this video is for you. I also give you some hints and tips along the way. I spend a lot more time talking about how the pieces go together and why. This video is more detailed than the quick assembly of the unpacking video above. Since there is no downloadable Gskyer telescope manual with anything that would answer those questions, this should do.ĭetailed assembly video for the Gskyer 130EQ : It is also an excellent video for those who want to know exactly how big the telescope is, and if they can assemble it themselves. Think of this as an unboxing plus video replacement for the Gskyer telescope manual that doesn’t come in the box □ You will also see how they packaged the telescope. What is in the box should be readily apparent. I start with a sealed box in this video, unpack everything, and then do a quick assembly. ![]() Unboxing and general setup video for the Gskyer 130EQ : ![]() If you are looking for more of a review of the telescope, you might look at my information page for the Gskyer 130EQ telescope.
